Zionsville.
Railroad-era village with a brick Main Street, boutiques, and a five-mile rail trail.
The lowdown
Zionsville sits just past Indy's northwest corner in Boone County. It started in 1852 around a railroad depot, and the brick Main Street still sets the tone. In the '50s and '60s locals restored the old 19th-century cottages, and the village look stuck. Today you'll find historic cottages near downtown and newer neighborhoods farther out. The Big-4 Rail Trail runs right through town. We love a Saturday walk down Main with a coffee in hand.
