Garfield Park.

Built around Indy's oldest park, opened in 1873, with a conservatory and sunken garden.

The lowdown

Garfield Park sits about three miles south of downtown, built around the city's oldest park. The park opened in 1873, took President Garfield's name in 1881, and covers more than 120 acres along Pleasant Run and Bean Creek. Greenhouses have stood here since 1895, and the Sunken Garden opened in 1916. Tree-lined streets of older homes ring the park. The Pleasant Run Trail links to the Cultural Trail, and the Pagoda gives you a downtown view.
