Holy Cross.
Near east side streets with skyline views, wood-fired pizza and a giant antiques market.
The lowdown
Holy Cross sits just east of downtown, between Michigan Street, State Avenue, Davidson Street and Southeastern Avenue. Settlement here goes back to 1819, when George Pogue built a cabin along Pogue's Run. Streetcars brought growth in the late 1800s. Today you'll see early-1900s frame houses next to new single-family infill. Highland Park sits on a hill with one of the best views of the skyline. Downtown is a quick bike ride away.
