Eagle Creek.
Built around one of the country's largest city parks and its 1,400-acre reservoir.
The lowdown
Eagle Creek wraps around the park that gives it its name, on Indy's northwest side. The reservoir was built for flood control in the late '60s, and the park opened in 1972 on land once assembled by J.K. Lilly Jr. Now it's 3,900 acres of woods, about 30 miles of trails, a beach, and a marina. Homes range from wooded subdivisions to condos near the water. We come here to paddle, hike, and forget we're in a city.
