Morse Reservoir.
A 1,500-acre lake between Noblesville and Cicero, opened in 1956.
The lowdown
Morse Reservoir is a 1,500-acre lake that opened in 1956, sitting between Noblesville and the town of Cicero, about 30 miles north of downtown Indy. Summer here means boats, kayaks, fishing and sunsets from the Jackson Street causeway. Housing ranges from lake homes with private docks to newer neighborhoods set back from the water. Cicero's small downtown has coffee, boutiques and lakeside patios, and Fourth of July weekend brings fireworks over the water.
Our top 5
Five things we love in Morse Reservoir.
- Lakeside dining
Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive
Fish tacos and a cocktail on the deck. Live music Thursday through Saturday in summer, and dogs are welcome outside.
- Coffee
Dark Side Coffee House
Jackson Street coffee stop for a bagel or breakfast sandwich before a morning on the water.
- Ice cream
Alexander's on the Water
Sixteen hand-dipped flavors and a jumbo breaded tenderloin if you want dinner first.
- Park
Red Bridge Park
Lakeside trails, a fishing pier and a kayak launch. Paddle out early before the boat traffic picks up.
- Annual festival
Lights Over Morse Lake Festival
Cicero's Fourth of July weekend party: parade, live music, food trucks, then fireworks over the lake.
