Southwest Indy.
White River bluffs, Mann Hill's mountain bike trails, and the airport's art collection.
The lowdown
Southwest Indy covers Decatur Township and the land around the airport, down to the White River bluffs. Quaker farmers settled here in the 1820s, and small towns like Valley Mills, West Newton, and Camby grew up along the roads and railroad. The airport arrived in 1931, then the interstates. Today you'll find old farmhouses, ranch homes, and newer subdivisions. The star is Southwestway Park and Mann Hill, a glacial hill that rises 828 feet.
