Speedway.

Its own town around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with a revived Main Street.

The lowdown

Speedway is its own town, tucked inside Indy's west side and built around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Race history is everywhere, from diner walls covered in memorabilia to the museum inside the track. Main Street has filled in with a brewery, restaurants, and patios that fill up every May. Streets are lined with modest bungalows and ranch homes. We love it on a quiet weekday, and on race day too.

Our top 5

Five things we love in Speedway.

  1. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

See the Borg-Warner Trophy and winning cars, then add a track tour around the famous oval.

  2. Charlie Brown's Pancake & Steak House

Main Street diner pouring coffee since 1975. Order the pancakes and the fried potatoes, and look at the racing memorabilia.
